Station Vineyard
Nestled behind the old, iconic Coonawarra Station and established between 1994 and 1998, the 165-hectare Station Block Vineyard lies primarily on black clay loam over limestone; with substantial pockets of Terra Rossa Soil.
Here, the primary planting is Cabernet Sauvignon with the vines approaching maturity and producing wines that are fresh and aromatic. The fruit forms the basis of The Laira range as well as some aromatic whites such as Chardonnay.
Laira Vineyard
Established in 1893, The Laira Vineyard was one of the first to be planted in Coonawarra, and is considered one of the regions oldest working blocks, producing our award winning flagship Stentiford’s Shiraz.
Located right on the Terra Rossa strip, The Laira Vineyard produce all of the top-of-the line reds found in our portfolio, and offers classic style and great refinement.
Today, from the highway back towards the winery, you can still spy the original 15 rows of Shiraz planted with great foresight in 1893.
Kirkgate Vineyard
Established in 1990, plantings at the Kirkgate vineyard took 3 years to complete. With a variety of soil types, fruit from this block is more deeply flavoured, and is the backbone of our icon wine Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cabernet makes up the highest percentage of fruits on this block, closely followed by Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Riesling and a dash of Petit Verdot.
Our Winery
In a blend of historic and contemporary design, the Brand’s Laira Cellar Door & Winery welcomes guests into the Coonawarra region to experience some of Australia’s most awarded red wines.
Our Cellar Door & Winery is situated in Australia’s red wine centre, north of Penola on South Australia’s Limestone coast.
The old stone building of Eric’s Cellar is a lovely journey back in time into the history of Brand’s Laira, and the perfect setting to enjoy a guided wine tasting.
Many of our wines, not only taste exceptional when young, but also cellar brilliantly. The ageability of our wines are world class – a fact endorsed by generations of collectors around the world.
Open seven days a week, Brand’s Laira Cellar Door & Winery offers tastings of our award winning and some Cellar Door exclusive premium wines – made from some of the oldest vines in Australia, guided by knowledgeable hosts who share the Brand’s Laira philosophy and country hospitality.
